Africa Primed For D’Banj At AFCON 2013 Closing Ceremony

The whole of the continent is ready for the live performance of Nigerian Afro-pop star D’Banj when this year’s competition closes.

He will be performing his song ‘Top Of The World’ before the grand finale between his country of birth Nigeria and Burkina Faso at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

D'Banj will share the stage with local acts including Micasa, Kelly Khumalo, Zonke Dikana, and Thembisile Ntaka.

Fans took to social networking sites twitter and facebook and were full of joy as they yearn to see the special performance from this top act.

Sarkodie’s ‘Black Tie Party’ On January 19.

All roads will lead to the fresh hangout in the capital, Traphic Lounge on Saturday, January 19 as Sarkodie host his fans in an event dubbed ‘Black Tie Party’.

The Ghana’s fastest rapper as usual is expected by all to deliver his classic performances during the night.

With less than a week to go, the DuncWills Entertainment act took to twitter and affirmed his preparedness for the event.

“Ma black tie party going down 19jan insyd osu traphic lounge.... Come let's party yall!!!! Mad fun!!! #sarkology,” he tweeted.

Since its official launch on Friday, November 9, 2012, it has hosted live performances from top acts in the Ghana music industry including E.L.

2013 Fashion Night Out Is Back!

After a successful debut in Ghana last year, Fashion Night Out returns in 2013 with the aim of celebrating hard work and creativity of designers in Ghana’s fashion industry.

The celebration will bring together media from both local and international arena, buyers and consumers to see the current collections of designers in the fashion capital of Accra, Ghana and to host 150 exhibitors at Ghana international trade fair, exhibiting all kind of products ranging from clothing, shoes, bags, jewelries, accessories and beads, hair product, body products, baby kits, arts craft, etc.

The platform aims to cut across geographic and culture barriers and position itself as a business of fashion and design event targeted at showcasing the best of the fashion and design industry, drive the Ghanaian fashion economy and ultimately uplift its profile within the industry.

This year event is scheduled to hold in May 2013 with the theme “Globalizing African Fashion”.

Black Avenue Music Outdoors Young Dapper On New Year’s Day

All is set for Black Avenue Music to officially outdoor rapper Young Dapper during an exposure party in the capital city, Accra.

Christened Eric Mathis, the young rapper released his first single titled “Move This” which features D-Black.

Young Dapper, 14, is set to release another single during the exposure party and birthday bash on Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

The event will take place at the Silver Lounge inside the Accra Mall from 4pm till 8pm on New Year’s Day.

Tickets will go for GH¢20 at the venue and the first 50 people in get drinks on the house courtesy of Young Dapper.

“Castro And Friends” Party Primed For Today

All is set for the much-talked about “Castro And Friends” Party when the hiplife powerhouse and his colleagues in the industry treat fans to the best of hiplife music.

The party is in two folds: there will be a beach party at the Last Hour Beach and an After Party during the night at the Vienna City Night Club all in Takoradi.

The likes of Buk Bak, Nhyira Ba KOJO, Stonebwouy TH4 Kwages, Bb, among others will be there to perform to fans.

The hiplife act has been in Takoradi for some days now and performed last night at the Skyy Power 93.5 Street Carnival.

The rapper has for some weeks now been a victim of sickness hoax in the media – rumors that he is suffering from stroke but has finally clear all the deceit with these performances.

It was all fun and energy at the TV3’s Music Music when Kwaw Kese, Ohemaa Mercy, 5Five among others got on stage to entertain the lively fans with what they does best.

The “Mad man” treated his fans to both his old and new songs including “U dey Craze”, “Let me do my Thing”, “Na Yatal”, “Popping”, “Fl3 Fl3” and “Odeim.”

Some of the acts that lighted the flame of performance included Florence Obinim and Princess Ifeoma, Ohemaa Mercy, 5Five, and D-Flex.

Both Ohemaa Mercy and the duo Florence IObinim and Nigeria’s Princess Ifeoma treated fans with their well known songs as they [fans] sang along.

The Adabraka boys wooed fans away with the song they released not too long ago “Gargantuan Body.”

Fans responded energetically as these musicians performed the fans’ favourite on stage.

This weekend’s Music Music was held at Kasoa.

US Rapper Cassidy to Headline Maiden rLG Accra Nightlife Awards

Rapper Cassidy is set to perform at the maiden rLG Accra Nightlife Awards (ANA) when personalities, events and places that have promoted nightlife through entertainment in Accra will be honored.

In a video footage to confirm this, he admitted the CEO of EDGE Media Group Mr. Yaw Debrah popularly known as Yaw Sniche is the direct agent who handles all his bookings to Africa.

“I’m about to come out there [Ghana] and do it big so I need y’all to show him the respect he deserve,” he said.

Cassidy, 30, can boast of four studio album including “Split Personality [2004]”, “I’m A Hustla [2005]”, “B.A.R.S. The Barry Adrian Reese Story [2007]”, and C.A.S.H. [2010].”

Some of his mixtapes include “Nothing But The Freestyle”, “Apply Pressure I”, “Apply Pressure II” among others.

ANA is scheduled for Saturday, January 26 at the Trade Fair Centre, La, Accra.

The categories for the event include: Best Lounge, Best International Restaurant, Best Hotel Bar, Best Casino, Best Local Gem, Best Bar, Best Late Night Snacks, Best Live Venue, Best Ambiance, Best Night Club, and Best Annual Event.

Ghana Movie Awards 2012: “Single and Married” Wins Big + Full Winners’ List

It was all fun at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday, December 25 when players in the movie industry in Ghana and Africa were honored at the Ghana Movie Awards 2012.

In its third year, Yvonne Nelson’s “Single and Married” won top awards including the Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Director and other awards.

Nigeria’s Alex Usifo and Patience Ozorkwor were all winners in the “African Collaboration” category.

MTN Hosts Amakye Dede And Others At "Nite With The Legend"

Telecommunication giants MTN Ghana will tonight, December 29 host highlife power house Abrantie Amakye Dede among other musicians.

Dubbed “A Nite With The Legend”, the event is set to stage ace musicians in the country.

Also performing tonight alongside the ‘Seeeeerious Man” include Felix Owusu, Rex Omar, Ben Brako and hiplife/dancehall king Samini.

Meanwhile, all musicians billed to perform are promising a night of energy and great performances.

The event will take place at the Akroma Plaza in Takoradi.

Legon Fashion Week Set for October 8 – 12

All is set for the annual Legon Fashion Week (LFW) from Saturday, October 8 to Monday, October 12 at the University of Ghana, Legon.

The fashion exhibition is aimed at bringing together experienced and upcoming fashion designers, celebrated and aspiring models and fashion brands from the textiles, make-up, hair and clothing industry to inspire new ideas.

The week event which will unveil new talents and sell brands in the fashion industry in Ghana and beyond is expected to reach over 7000 audience and will be marked with a lot of activities including:

Exhibition
The exhibition starts from Monday 8th October to Friday 12th October at the forecourt of Mensah Sarbah Hall, University of Ghana, Legon from 10am to 10pm each day.

Fashion 101
Fashion 101 is a TV show which will be aired on campus to be shown on TV3. It is a show that analyses today’s fashion trends and give relevant information to viewers and the dos and don’ts of the fashion world. This is collaboration with TV3.

Seminars
Two educative seminars are expected to be held during the week. There will be the “Models’ Lounge” and the “Fashion Sense Seminars” which will be hosted by our partner model agency and a fashion house which will express interest in this event.

Fashion Show Extravaganza

A fashion show will be staged for models to show case the handy works of the various fashion designers, bead makers and shoe makers who will participate in this event. The fashion show will host musicians to entertain guests.

In all, 20 designers are expected to show case their creativity and ingenuity. 10 will be experienced and well known designers both from Ghana and abroad. 10 designers will be young and upcoming cloth designers who show promise through their hard work and innovations.

LFW is opened to all in the fashion industry to showcase their fashion accessories, amazing shoes and jewelry.

Psquare’s August 31 Harare Concert Cancelled

The first ever Psquare-Zimbabwean tour scheduled for Friday, August 31has been cancelled.
The news of the show’s cancellation was confirmed by the organizers May 7 Entertainment who spoke with the Zimbabwean News Day.

‘There was a leak of information earlier this month, which caused our plans for a concert performance at the Harare International Conference Centre (by Nigeria’s top music duo P Square) to be cancelled’, statement issued by the company read.

Reports say May 7 Entertainment director Max Mugaba who has refused to comment on the collapse has however disclosed that they are in discussion with another R&B group from the US.
‘After what happened with P Square, we are playing our cards close to the chest because a lot is happening in the industry’, said Mugaba.

‘We will be giving you information on the artiste in due course, but what I can say for now is that on September 28, Harare goes to party’, he added.

Mugaba says the identity of the artistes will be revealed in the following week. Reports also have it that the show’s cancellation will not deter the twin pop duo from travelling to Harare as they have begun talks with another show promoter.

Efforts to reach Psquare were futile as at the time of this report.

Kumasi readies for "All Stars Revolution Concert"

Kumasi's entertainment stalwart, Homeproud and Ash Cell Limited is set to bring another fun night in the lives of the people of the Garden City of the Ashanti Region, Kumasi in an all musical concert dubbed "All Stars Revolution Concert".

The event which is scheduled take place on the 21st of September 2102 at the Royal Lamerta Hotel at Ahodwo will see performances from top notch artistes such as 2006 MOBO Award winner for Best African Act and 2009 MTV Africa Music Award winner for Best Performer, Samini, platinum ‘Pae Mu Ka’ hit maker Obrafour, Former Stars of the future contestant and Ghana's first lady of dancehall music Kaaki,the Nima boys who have over a decade entertained music lovers with their energetic stage performances, "Aluguintugui" hitmakers, Keche and 2010 Most Popular song of the year award winners at the Ghana Music Awards, Bradez.

Although, the event is meant to entertain patrons and eliminate the boring life in the city, competition is already brewing in the various artist camps as to who will "steal" the show on the night which is making all artistes prepare for spectacular performances. Kaaki, who could not hide her joy in a voice endorsement promises to give a wonderful package as this is her first show in the city.

The Sounds of Sweetness Concert returns on Saturday, August 25 with the power of music and the magic of melody, as some heavyweights of Ghanaian entertainment come together for a night of sweet sensation.

Amakye Dede to be celebrated at 2012 ‘Legends and Legacy Ball’

Ace Ghanaian Highlife maestro Daniel Amakye Dede has been selected as the next big act to be celebrated at this year’s Legends and Legacy Ball slated for September 15.

The main auditorium of the International Conference Centre would come alive on the said date as several Ghanaian musicians would be performing selected hit songs of the ‘iron boy’ Abrantie Amakye Dede who has about 28 albums to his credit.

100% Zobla zo singer and Ivorian superstar Freddy Meiway is the guest international act for the night. Some Ghanaian artistes billed to perform Amakye Dede’s songs on the night include Becca, Eazzy, Samini, Kwabena Kwabena, Okyeame Kwame, Daasebre Gwamena and several others.

The first Ghanaian to have been celebrated in this grandeurs fashion is DL, popularly known as Daddy Lumba who has also blazed the Ghanaian music industry with countless hits with his career spanning over three decades.

It was under this event that the two former presidents of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor and Jerry John Rawlings shared a dance with Kufuor dancing with former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings after he sort permission from Jerry Rawlings. (Twas a great, interesting and rare moment.)

Empire Entertainment Presents ‘Back In The Day Concert’

The 90’s witnessed a vibrant renaissance in the Ghanaian music industry with the advent of the hiplife music genre, and with it came a pulsating youth culture that caught a silent nation by storm. Prominent in this new music culture were the likes of Reggie Rockstone, Obrafuor – whose “Pae Mu Ka” album is rated one of the best ever produced in the genre – , T-Blaze, NFL, Akatakyie, Akyeame, and Slim Busterr.

This era of music ingenuity, could never have been without the big bass and hiphop synths of the classic beats produced by the “Da Hammer” whose Last 2 group introduced numerous talents into the industry and spanned numerous hit joints.

As with most music genres however, as the years went by, the sound evolved, the music changed and the musicians of the Golden Era either changed with the music or faded away with the years.

More than a decade down the line however, Empire Entertainment ,led by ace entertainment personality, Bola Ray, – himself a major player during the golden era of hiplife- in collaboration with MediaGH, are bringing back the good old days with the “Back In The Days” Concert.

Set for September,21 at The Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre, the “Back In The Day” concert is going to be an annual affair which seeks to bring back to life and celebrate the great music of the past decades and the artistes and sound engineers who made it possible.

This year, ace producer, “Da Hammer” will be celebrated together with the originator of the Hiplife genre, Reggie Rockstone.

This was revealed at the official media launch of the BACK In The Day Concert at the Silver Lounge, Accra Mall.

The event brought a feeling of nostalgia, as some of the biggest acts of the 90’s converged in the same building for the first time in more than a decade reliving the “good ol days”.

Present at the launch were, Reggie Rockstone, Samini [Batman], Akatakyie, T-Blaze, Ex-Doe, Chicago, Okyeame Kwame[ Akyeame], Hammer, VIP and a host of others.

Speaking at the event, most of the artistes expressed their gratitude to Empire Entertainment and Media GH for bringing back to life the good music of the era past and urged other industry players to do same. There also seemed to have been a general consensus amongst the artistes that, the night of the 21^st September, would be an electrifying one in every way as they each promised to bring to life their very best performances till date.

As the weeks go by,it is expected that the full list of artistes for this year’s edition will be released ; however, the likes of Samini[Batman], Akatakyie, T-Blaze, Ex-Doe, Chicago, Okyeame Kwame[Akyeame],Hammer, VIP and Reggie Rockstone are confirmed to feature on the big night.

With a host of other surprise acts set for the night, most industry pundits are predicting that the Back In The Day Concert will indeed become one of the biggest mega-jams on the events calendar in much the same fashion as Empire Entertainment’s GHANA MEETS NAIJA Concert.
