All is set for the first ever Ghana Music Week (GMW)
organized by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) on Monday, March 4 to Sunday,
March 10 at the National Theatre.
The theme for the week-long event is: “Engaging
MUSIC as a catalyst for Unity and National Growth.”
It also aims at creating a yearly platform for all
stakeholders in the music and creative art industry to celebrate the art.
Programmes lined up for the festival include
training and seminars for musicians, stakeholders dialogue, National Music
Essay for students among other exciting and educative programs.
To climax the festival, there will be Ghana 56th
Independence Unity Concert and MUSIGA All-Star & Awards Nite on Wednesday,
March 6 and Saturday, March 9 respectively.
The Ghana Music Week which was originally set for
October 15 to 21 but was postponed to this new date following the request by
preeminent industry players to participate and maximize the opportunities of
the event was launched by MUSIGA on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Coconut
Grove Regency Hotel in Accra.
